Yes this would be an acceptable practice…but the redirect might catch customers off guard. Do you mention specifically the redirect will occur in 4 seconds? Have you tested whether customers want to go back to the last product or back to home/category instead?

If a user has just purchased something with the ‘add to cart’ button I take them to a quick page that says ‘xyz item has been added to the cart’, then forward them after 4 seconds back to the product they just added. Does this sound correct?
