Canadian Google Store promotion - Free shipping in the USA

I love Google, but they are not immune from being called out on funny ecommerce practices.  We are doing some fun stuff here at Elastic Path and needed a Google t-shirt for a campaign we are doing - so I checked out the Google Store, the Canadian Google Store to be more accurate.

I found a promotion on for Free shipping - sounds good! But look closer…

Now, this would be fine and dandy in most situations… but I am on the CANADIAN store. I think free shipping in CANADA would be more appropriate. Though, maybe I could send it to the hotel I’ll be staying at in San Francisco for the Web 2.0 Expo next week. Hmmm.

I figured they must be using the same template across all geographic stores. Nope. The US site uses a different promotional banner to offer free shipping.

Incidentally, when looking around to see if this was the case - turns out the Mexican and South American stores all point to the Canadian URL - go figure.

It might be easier to simply stop off at the Google booth at Web 2.0 Expo - they are bound to be giving away T-shirts. :)
