What's needed is a diagram showing the tasks a current developer would go through to build an old and new style site, then show the tasks required to add a function using SOA, and the advantages such as development speed and ease of testing.
We are building all our new modules in SOA using the new .Net systems for this, which is working nicely so it's good to see these types of articles.

I think this article is very useful but highlights why the take up of SOA is so low amongst large and small sites, it’s quite tricky to explain and to a non-techie it’s not easy to see why there are any huge advantages.

What’s needed is a diagram showing the tasks a current developer would go through to build an old and new style site, then show the tasks required to add a function using SOA, and the advantages such as development speed and ease of testing.

We are building all our new modules in SOA using the new .Net systems for this, which is working nicely so it’s good to see these types of articles.

By: Tim Rhoades

<guid

Very interesting post. I've recently been made the eCommerce 'expert' in my office (meaning I'm the only AE that is currently running eCommerce clients lol) and I'm trying to get all caught up on the jargon and theories. Until this post I hadn't heard of SOA but I have to say from your explination it is something I will be investigating further.
My only question to you is do you have a more high-res image of the graphics you included in this post? I would like study these a little bit but they are just a tad bit too small to really digest.
Thanks,
- Tim

Linda,

Very interesting post.
