That&#039;s a very good question, and I think there were several reasons. For one thing, there was Target&#039;s intransigence: they were asked by the NFB to comply voluntarily, and a year later had done absolutely nothing.

Then there&#039;s the &quot;deep pockets&quot; thing. There&#039;s no point in launching a class action lawsuit against anything but a huge company.

In any event, the success of this lawsuit (Target eventually settled for $6 million) should serve as a warning... make your site accessible, or face possible consequences.

Not to imply that fear of a lawsuit is the only reason to make your site accessible. There are lots of good reasons, including better overall usability, SEO... and it&#039;s just the right thing to do.</description>

		<description>Great Post, I would like to see how most of the big dogs out there stack up there with this. I for one have a hard time pushing for accessibility when it comes to the new innovative ideas with all the RIA type stuff.

I never get why Target got sued but just about every other ecommerce store out there was just as bad or worse and nothing happened to them.</description>
