This is Your Brain on Multitasking [Infographic]

written by Linda Bustos

Neuroplasticity has always fascinated me. Understanding how the brain physically changes depending on our thoughts, habits and even the media we consume, mapping and re-mapping itself can help us become better, stronger, faster. Knowledge of what changes our brain is also important.

If you work in anything to do with technology or the Internet, surely you're accustomed to multi-tasking. Just sit in the back of any conference room, and you'll see devices and screens lighting up as "listeners" type notes, follow the session's hashtag stream, check personal email or play Scrabble on Facebook. Most of us that own mobile devices use them in front of the TV screen, while talking to friends and family, or even while driving. We are a multi-tasking culture.

But what has this culture done to our brains, nervous systems and heart rates? What does it do to our productivity?
